The Knitters

The St Bernard's Knitters are a long established activity in our parish community, with people sharing their time and talent to help those in our broader Geelong community, including Geelong Mums and various nursing homes . There are many people, who from the comfort of their own home, donate wool and knit squares, of all colours and sizes. Some are delivered to the church already sewn together and others leave bags of squares which are then sorted and sewn together into single bed covers and knee rugs. The items are usually donated 10 at a time, and are always gratefully accepted by the welfare organisations who donate them to clients and staff members.
"As someone who finds it hard to sit and do nothing, knitting the squares and sewing them up is so rewarding”.

If you would like to donate wool, or are interested in knitting, please contact our Parish office for more information.
