Sacraments

Baptism

The sacrament of Baptism is the rite of initiation into belonging and participation in the community of faith we call the Church. In infant or child baptism it is the parents who hold faith for their child. The child is welcomed, called and enabled to grow to maturity, as a living sign of Christ's love in the world. Parish-based Sacramental Program:

St Bernards Religious Education Program for students in Government and private schools (Monday School) joins with the students from Clairvaux Catholic School as they make the Sacraments of Penance, First Eucharist and Confirmation within the Parish community.

Penance:

The sacrament of Penance or reconciliation makes present and visible the healing forgiveness of God that Jesus has entrusted to the faith community through the power of The Holy Spirit. Although the form and ritual of the sacrament has undergone changes over history it is always about the power of God’s spirit given to his people to name, heal, amend and absolve the hurt and division sin causesClick here to find out more..

Eucharist:

The sacrament of the Eucharist is the core celebration of the faith community whereby we encounter and remember the story of Jesus and are nourished and empowered to make his commandment of love of God and love of neighbour active in our lives and in the world. It is both the source of our Christian life and its goal, namely full communion with God and each other. Click here to find out more..

Confirmation:

The sacrament of Confirmation ratifies, confirms and releases the call and gift each of us receive in baptism allowing The Holy Spirit to indwell more fully in our daily lives. The sacrament is about the growth that occurs when we move from belonging to believing and manifesting that belief by continued growth in the gifts of love, peace, joy, kindness, trustfulness, self control, goodness and gentleness. Click here to find out more..
